Avnet Technology Solutions Appoints Henry Godwin as Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa

Dubai, UAE – 19 September 2011 – Avnet Technology Solutions, an IT solutions distribution leader and an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today named Henry Godwin as regional director for the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Godwin will be responsible for the strategic direction of Avnet Technology Solutions in the region. Godwin will report to Graeme Watt, President of Avnet Technology Solutions, EMEA.

“Henry Godwin was selected for this position based on a proven track record in setting up new supplier franchises and driving exceptional results in terms of market share growth and profitability,” said Watt. “He is a high achiever who consistently delivers more than what is asked of him. Henry’s ability to build teams and work with channel partners will help Avnet continue to grow throughout the region, and allow us to create new opportunities for our partners in these markets.”

Godwin joins Avnet from Computacenter, where he was head of category, responsible for product categories spanning the data centre, networking and software. Before working for Computacenter Godwin was vendor divisional leader at Bell Microproducts, where he reported directly to the European Board and was responsible for achieving the revenue and profit targets of the company’s HP business in the UK, and Symantec in EMEA. Throughout his career, Godwin has become known for developing strong vendor relationships and support teams, exceptional supply chain management and an ability to deliver specialized data center solutions that provide partners with a competitive edge in their target markets.

“The Middle East and Africa region remains an emerging market with high growth potential for the IT channel,” Watt added. “Henry will help accelerate the growth of Avnet’s channel in the region by implementing localized programs and developing complete multi-vendor data centre solutions for our partners that include servers, storage, software, and value-added services.”

HTC appoints new Regional Director for South Eastern Europe and Middle East


1117HTC Corporation, a global designer of smartphones, has announced that it has recently appointed Nikitas Glykas as Regional Director of HTC South Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Glykas will be responsible for the overall marketing and sales business of HTC in South Eastern Europe and the Middle East, which jointly cover a total of 33 markets.

Prior to joining HTC, Glykas was CEO of Shelman SA where he was responsible for the overall business of SHELMAN and four affiliated companies in Greece. He also previously worked at M J Maillis Group S.A. for more than six years and at Mobil Hellas AE as Balkans Marketing Coordinator, which has helped enhance his expertise and knowledge of key regional markets.

It will be a distinct honour for me to spearhead HTC’s growth initiatives in South Eastern Europe and the Middle East, which continue to offer excellent business potential for HTC’s diverse product range. Glykas holds a M.Sc. in Environmental and Ecological Sciences from the University of Lancaster, England and a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Athens. He has also attended an Advanced Management Program in Harvard Business School.
