2303Toddler Town Nursery, a leading children’s pre-school focused on fostering and embracing holistic development in children aged 6 months-5 years opens its facility with a sprawling campus at Amwaj 5, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Dubai. The new facility was inaugurated by Ms. Noor Alkindi, Head of Corporate Marketing and Hospitality, Dubai Properties Group. The campus offers distinctive, exciting and fun filled environment for children to grow and play.

“There can be no task more important, fulfilling and rewarding than nurturing and shaping the earliest years of our future generations. We are happy to open this nursery for the children to play, learn and explore in the heart of the city. We have spared no efforts in searching, and recruiting highly qualified teachers and staff to provide the highest quality of care to the children of Toddler Town in a loving and caring environment.” commented Ms. Ziham Moopen, Managing Director, Toddler Town Nursery.

Commenting at the launch of the nursery, Ms. Ziham Moopen said : “I wanted to create a unique space which would inspire awe, wonderment and curiosity in children- a space where children could let their imaginations run wild. A lot of thought and effort has gone into making this nursery a fabulous environment, where children could make new and exciting discoveries each day in every corner of the nursery.”

“We provide inspirational, nurturing care and assurance, with a range of exhilarating age and stage appropriate opportunities for all, ensuring our pupils reach their full potential,” commented Ms. Araminta Edmondson, Principal of Toddler Town.

Facilities at the nursery include 7 classrooms split by age group, an exciting library, IT corner, soft play room, sensory wall, water play pool, sandpit, riding track and 2 playgrounds. A highlight of the nursery is the Tiny Town role play area which is in the form of a little town brought down to child-size. In order to keep the environment as safe as possible for the little ones, all the indoor space has child-friendly soft flooring, and outdoor playgrounds have customized high-quality safety flooring.

Classrooms are bright and spacious, and the child-to-adult ratio in all classrooms is very good compared to usual Dubai standards. The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile from the UK to maintain and develop best childcare practices. It is based around four themes, each theme is linked to an important principle and each principle is then supported by four commitments, with six areas of learning. The four themes are:

• A Unique Child - Every child is a competent learner from birth, who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured
• Positive Relationships - Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents, teachers and peers
• Enabling Environments - The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning
• Learning and Development - Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates, and all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected

At Toddler Town British Nursery, children are valued as individuals, with praise through positive reinforcement given for individual achievements based on their own unique abilities and skills. Safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare forms a large part of the statutory responsibilities of the nursery, and covers most of the requirements of Ministry of Social Affairs (UAE), Ofsted (England), The Care Commission (Scotland) and the CSSIW (Wales). The Nursery follows the framework of the Every Child Matters government green paper, which is structured around five outcomes - Stay safe, Be healthy, Enjoy and achieve, Make a positive contribution and Organisation which are key to a child’s overall well-being.

Toddler Town is open for students almost all through the year, with the exception of weekends and country-wide private holidays and occasionally for deep-cleaning and teacher training. Parents don’t have to worry about finding alternative childcare during vacation time.

Spotlight on sustainability as inaugural edition of World ecoConstruct opens in Abu Dhabi

2233The inaugural edition of WORLD ecoConstruct - the ‘green’ construction industry event has opened today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), helping visitors to capitalise on sustainable methods of output from concept to completion.

The four-day exhibition, taking place from 22-25 April is putting a spotlight on the growth of global sustainable design and construction of the built environment, and will also be taking significant steps to being completely carbon neutral.

A new carbon offsetting initiative will result in 391 tonnes of CO2 generated from the event offset to support the installation of a locally based waste heat recovery unit project.

The event is co-located with the 6th edition of Cityscape Abu Dhabi - the region’s leading real estate development exhibition - and will bring together stakeholders from every stage of the construction industry supply chain.

Featuring 12 days worth of global summits, workshops and training courses, WORLD ecoConstruct is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors and will be the centre of attention when industry heavyweights gather to learn how best to capitalise on innovative and sustainable construction.

The four-day WORLD ecoConstruct Summit running alongside the main exhibition also opened today hosting the largest assembly of leading policy makers, industry stakeholders and experts to discuss, debate and share best practice in green building design, materials and management.

H.E. Engineer Ahmed Mohamed Al Shareef, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), delivered the keynote speech, with one of the highlights of the opening day belonging to a panel discussion debating the viability profitability of sustainable building and design.

Ivar Krasinksi, Design Director at architecture firm STR-EDGE, UAE, and one of the speakers of the panel discussion said: “Companies on the client side can benefit considerably from sustainability just by insisting on integrated design since this approach can lower capital expenditure significantly. This means that sustainability actually helps the financial model of a construction project and the client’s bottom line.”

Another feature at WORLD ecoConstruct is the infrastructure ARABIA Summit, providing a focused platform for public and private sector engineering and infrastructure professionals in the region to discuss the latest issues affecting the industry.

Day one of the four-day summit opened with an address by H.E. Dr. Abdullah Ghareeb, Executive Director of the Municipal Affairs Support Services at the DMA, who provided an overview of how government agencies are collaborating to deliver the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

In addition to supporting WORLD ecoConstruct as Foundation Partner, the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) will also conduct training and awareness seminars on the latest environment, health and safety management systems and international building codes currently required by the Abu Dhabi government for all practicing building professionals.

Meanwhile visitors interested in witnessing the latest groundbreaking innovations and sustainable building solutions firsthand can do so at The Future Build Showcase in Hall 7.

Developed in partnership with Sustainable Knowledge Partner Masdar City, the Future Build Showcase is an interactive feature designed to drive business offerings to the global construction industry while creating awareness of the importance of building sustainable low carbon cities and infrastructure for the future generations.

Tsitsi Lynn Makuni, Exhibition Director of WORLD ecoConstruct, said, “The market for green building materials is projected to reach $406bn by 2015 with Middle East markets poised for the fastest growth. Over the next four days, WORLD ecoConstruct will be buzzing as leading innovative manufacturers and suppliers showcase their latest sustainable and innovative construction materials, solutions and services to importers, buyers and government officials from across the Middle East.”

“The two summits and DMA training seminars will ensure an interactive and unique platform for the most respected leaders in the industry to share the latest green building technologies, debate the most controversial topics and come out with take-away kits of sustainable know-how.”

WORLD ecoConstruct is supported by Foundation Partner, the Department of Municipal Affairs, Sustainable Knowledge Partner Masdar City, Strategic Partner Emirates Green Building Council, Principal Sponsor Emirates Steel, Platinum Sponsor Rajhi Steel, Gold & Future Build Sponsor BASF, and is endorsed by the UAE Business Council for Sustainable Development.
