November 2, 2011
Informatica Qatar (I-Qatar), a leading IT consulting firm and technology solutions provider, has signed a partnership agreement to be the exclusive distributor of devices and mobile phones manufactured by global ICT solutions provider Huawei. This marks the Qatar debut of the Huawei IDEOS, touted as the world’s most affordable smartphone loaded with the GoogleTM web search engine. The agreement was signed during a press conference held on November 2nd, 2011 at the Ramada Hotel in Doha, Qatar.
Huawei had previously authorized I-Qatar to be the sole distributor and after-sales provider of all upcoming Huawei devices to be introduced to the Qatari market. I-Qatar will tap its extensive local market presence to introduce Qatar’s mobile users to Huawei’s feature-rich yet stylish and highly affordable products.
“Qatar enters a new era of smartphone mobility with the introduction of Huawei’s IDEOS series. Users now have excellent options that fit their particular mobile needs and style. For our part, the partnership with Huawei affirms our commitment to dealing with only the best technology solutions providers in the global markets,” said Wisam Costandi, General Manager, Informatica Qatar.
The Huawei IDEOS phone redefines the ‘entry-level smartphone’ concept by combining high-quality hardware and software with excellent value-for-money. The basic IDEOS unit and the more advanced U8800 IDEOS X5 both run on the popular Android 2.2 operating system for mobile devices, also known as ‘Froyo.’ Froyo allows the phones to operate faster, easily tether to Wi-Fi hotspots, and fully support Adobe Flash animation. IDEOS owners have access to the
Android Market’s wide range of over 100,000 communication, entertainment, office and financial management applications.
The ergonomically designed basic IDEOS handset supports downlink speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and features a vivid 2.8-inch touchscreen, an embedded 3G USB modem, and a 3.2-Megapixel camera. The U8800 IDEOS X5 can handle faster downlink speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps and comes with a wider 3.8-inch screen, a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video capture and playback capabilities. It can also be used as a 3G modem and as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices.
“IDEOS derives its name from the combination of ‘ID,’ representing our industrial design-centric hardware platform; ‘E’ for the evolution to mobile Internet; and ‘OS’ for the operating software that serves as the heart of our processing platform. The tech-savvy people of Qatar will definitely appreciate the capabilities we have integrated into these devices to make them affordable all-in-one solutions for all sorts of wireless connectivity applications,” added Joseph Ye, Devices Senior manager, Huawei.
