Epson reveals projector exhaust shutter system for organisations in dusty and sandy environments

Dust-proof projectors that give high-quality results in all situations ideally suited for Middle East markets

July 5, 2011

227Responding to the needs of organisations in dusty and sandy locations, Epson has developed a projector exhaust shutter system for trouble-free presenting. Featured in Epson’s EB-D6155W and EB-D6250 projectors that have been recently launched in the Middle East, the shutter automatically closes when the projector is not in use, preventing dust and sand from entering and causing damage. The projectors’ optical engine is encased in glass to offer further protection against the atmosphere, delivering high-quality projection that is fully dust-proof.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, “The EB-D6155W and EB-D6250’s robust design enables them to withstand extreme conditions with minimal maintenance, offering a low total cost of ownership for users such as factories, clubs, arenas, museums and schools. The Middle East region in particular, which is prone to sand storms, will significantly benefit with the introduction of this projector range.”

Quality has not been compromised, with the projectors using 3LCD technology to deliver superb image clarity and accurate colour reproduction.  Both feature a high-performance 5W integrated speaker and an HDMI input for top-quality digital images and sound through a single cable.

Easy to install and use, the projectors offer automatic vertical keystone correction, optional wireless connectivity and remote network control. The electrostatic filter of the projectors lasts up to 10,000 hours, while the easy-access E-TORL lamp gives up to 4,000 hours of light.

Epson launches fully automated Discproducer for medium-volume disc publishing

Epson PP-50 publishes up to 50 discs in one batch; uses Epson Micro Piezo printhead and 6-colour inks to produce ultra-fine colour gradations and razor-sharp text

Building on its existing range, Epson has announced the Middle East launch of the Discproducer PP-50: an affordable model aimed at users publishing up to 400 discs per month. Offering a blend of quality and economy, the PP-50 is reliable and easy to operate, providing high-quality output at low cost.

Fully automated, the PP-50 frees up users to work on other tasks while it publishes up to 50 discs in one batch. This makes it a convenient, time-saving choice for any organisation needing to regularly distribute information, archive files or back-up data.

To help users present a professional image or impress clients, the PP-50 delivers high-quality, photo-realistic printing on the CD/DVD surface. The Epson Micro Piezo printhead and 6-colour inks produce ultra-fine colour gradations and razor-sharp text, even in very small font sizes. Combined with the PP-50’s accurate disc burning, this means organisations can rely on the readability of their archived discs for decades.

Khalil El-0alu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, “Epson’s Discproducers that have already been installed have demonstrated their reliability in various sectors, including medicine, education, entertainment and marketing, as well as the duplication industry. The PP-50 offers users in the Middle East great value for money as, while the output quality is very high, the cost of each finished disc is low. Depending on the printed image, one set of ink cartridges produces more than 1,000 fully-covered discs – and when a cartridge becomes empty, the PP-50 automatically stops to avoid mis-prints.”

Allowing unsupervised production runs with less risk of failure, Epson has drawn on its expertise in manufacturing robots to develop the patented AcuGrip robotic arm, which ensures that only one CD/DVD is grabbed at a time – even if they are stuck together. To ensure trouble-free operation for years to come, the PP-50 has a dust-proof body and minimal moving parts.

The PP-50 is extremely easy to use – it is controlled from the front, and its LED system  shows the ink level status for each individual colour. The included Total Disc Maker software is user-friendly too, with pre-defined templates and images, so users don’t need to be experts.

Giving users the flexibility to work in batches of different sizes, the PP-50’s dual 50-disc-capacity stackers can be utilised in two different ways. Users can load up to 50 discs of one type into the first stacker to be published as a single batch and then delivered into the second stacker. To produce smaller batches on-demand, users can load up to 50 discs into each of the two stackers – one stacker with CDs and the other with DVDs if desired – to burn and print in batches of up to 20. These smaller batches are then delivered into the 20-disc-capacity output container.

Enabling convenient installation on a shelf or desktop, the fully-stackable PP-50 has a compact footprint and measures only 38cm wide, making it one of the smallest disc publishers on the market.

Epson’s new 17-inch printer achieves 98 per cent PANTONE coverage

Stylus Pro 4900 offers professional photographers in Middle East a super-wide colour gamut with automated colour accuracy

June 14, 2011

291Epson has announced the Middle East launch of the Stylus Pro 4900 – a compact, 17-inch production printer setting new standards in colour precision for the photography market. Delivering the best print quality for commercial photographs and fine art reproduction, the printer boasts outstanding colour consistency and accurate colour matching, and can reproduce 98 per cent of all PANTONE®1 colours. Its high level of automation and robust mechanism make the Epson Stylus Pro 4900 a highly productive workhorse for the small office or studio environment.

Creating exceptional photographs and fine art images is easy with the Epson Stylus Pro 4900, thanks to one of the widest colour gamuts on the market. Colours on the print are identical to that of the original image, even when reproduced on a wide range of media. The optional inline SpectroProofer ensures repeatable colour accuracy when using different media, and automatically measures colour charts when creating ICC profiles.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said: “The Epson Stylus Pro 4900 offers photographers in the region outstanding flexibility and creates better-than-lab-quality prints on a wide range of media up to 1.5mm thick, including thick photo or presentation matte board, canvas and fine art paper. Users can select a paper path that best fits their needs from a choice of cassette, top and front manual board feed or roll.”

Every print has a professional finish with precise and consistent colour reproduction. This comes from the printer’s first-class colour matching capabilities, coupled with Epson’s 11-colour UltraChrome HDR inks and Advanced-TFP print head for superior dot quality. These inks and technologies are identical to those used in Epson’s larger format production printers up to 44 inches.

The Epson Stylus Pro 4900 represents a big boost in productivity, with a production speed of 30m2/hour and minimal maintenance requirements. Its high capacity front-loading cassette makes inserting paper easy, and automated paper changing means no time is wasted switching between cut sheet and roll paper. The printer also switches automatically between photo and matte black inks, with both installed to avoid stopping the print run. All inks come in high capacity cartridges for less frequent changes and better value.

Qualified by ENERGY STAR, the Epson Stylus Pro 4900’s energy efficiency enables users to save money, be more environmentally considerate and keep power consumption down.

Epson launches desktop visualiser projector that advances interactive learning

With the ELP-DC11, teachers benefit from easy-to-use, high quality, affordable package

June 1, 2011

211Epson, worldwide leader in the projector market , has announced the Middle East launch of the latest desktop visualiser – ELP-DC11 – for easy-to-use, interactive learning. The device, essentially a high-quality 5 megapixel camera on a rugged, hinged arm, is designed to help teachers at primary and secondary schools effortlessly share 3D objects, books, experiments and even living things with classes and also create multimedia lesson notes.  The ELP-DC11 offers an outstanding set of features at an affordable price-point.

Busy teachers are always seeking ways to make learning interesting and Epson is well placed to aid them, as it has a long history in providing projection equipment for the classroom and understands the need for easy-to-use devices which make their job easier.

When used at its most basic level, the visualiser connects directly to any projector to share physical objects or digital content.  With an Epson projector, the native aspect ratio is automatically detected, so the image fills the screen exactly.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, “Epson is committed to provide a wider range of innovative and superior technology solutions catering to the education segment, as we seek to complement  the growing focus on quality education across the Middle East. Epson’s desktop visualiser is designed to help create a more engaging and interactive classroom environment, making it easier for teachers to communicate with pupils and deliver their lessons more effectively. The launch of the new visualiser is also part of our continuing thrust to develop more quality-driven solutions that address the distinct requirements of our customers in the region.”

The large A3 shooting area means objects don’t need to be precisely positioned or continually readjusted, while the buttons are intuitive. Use the highly visible, dedicated buttons to: auto focus; switch between inputs (a PC or the visualiser’s camera); zoom in and out; take photos; or record video.  Rotating the head of the arm through 90 degrees to adjust the camera’s viewpoint is simple too.  And science teachers can easily attach a microscope to share a close-up view via the attachment included with the ELP-DC11.

The Advanced Application Software manages the interactive functions and multimedia options. Take still images and record videos or even watch ice-cream melt at speed with the time-lapse feature which captures up to 72 hours. Then add written notes or audio commentary to videos or pictures, thanks to the built-in microphone and live annotation feature, with simple-to-use drawing tools.

For the ultimate learning experience the ELP-DC11 can connect to Epson’s interactive projectors, the EB-450Wi and EB-460i, so teachers can create real-time notes on the big screen or annotate 3D objects, then record the images captured.

Epson’s new range of installation and desktop projectors target education and business users

Range offers perfect picture and innovative features like email alerts for temperature and lamp status

May 7, 2011

248Epson, worldwide leader in the video projector market , has announced the Middle East launch of a range of installation and desktop projectors for education and business users: the EB-93, EB-95, EB-96W, EB-905, EB-915W and EB-925. The series delivers a perfect picture in all light conditions, and has smart features to make presentations more effective. Easy to install and use, the projectors enable users to focus on presenting rather than setting up.

Users can achieve a clear picture – even in daylight – and keep the lights on so their audience can take notes. This is thanks to Epson’s 3LCD technology and the projectors’ high White and Colour Light Output, which ranges from 1,500 to 3,500 lumens, depending on the model.

Khalil El Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, “The region’s business sector and academic institutions will greatly appreciate the innovative features and the quality of output offered by this range. Users can be assured of excellent picture in all light conditions to make high-impact presentations.”

The series is designed to help presenters make an impact. To deliver powerful audio, every model has an integrated 16W speaker, and five feature a microphone input. Pictures can be shared quickly and easily by projecting directly from a USB drive, camera or portable hard drive, and 3D objects displayed by connecting to Epson’s ELP-DC06 document camera.

Whatever the room layout, installation is straightforward. Even if the projector is at an angle to the screen, the picture can be quickly aligned using automatic vertical and manual horizontal keystone correction, with a x1.2 or x1.6 optical zoom depending on the model for extra flexibility.

Further, IT staff can control and monitor a projector fleet without any hassle using Epson’s EasyMP advanced networking features. To remove the need for physical checks, convenient automatic email alerts for temperature and lamp status can be set up. Images and sound can be broadcast over a network via the LAN input, and settings adjusted from a single point on a network.

Offering flexible connectivity, all the projectors have an HDMI input, and some models feature optional wireless connectivity. A single USB cable is all that is needed to connect a laptop to the projector thanks to 3-in-1 USB display.

To help ease demand on budgets, the range has a low total cost of ownership resulting from its long lamp life of 6,000 hours (in eco mode) and the improved dust filter, which cuts down on maintenance time too.

Epson launches compact A3+ photo printer targeted at professional and advanced amateurs

The Stylus Photo R3000 uses UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta inks for excellent greyscale reproduction

April 27, 2011

2204Epson has announced the launch of its latest A3+ photo printer - the Stylus Photo R3000- in the Middle East aimed at the professional and advanced amateur. This printer makes professional-quality output accessible, with its convenient high-capacity inks which are perfect for medium print runs, and fits even the smallest desk space with its compact footprint.

In response to photographers and designers’ feedback, Epson has developed the R3000’s new features with convenience in mind. A front-loading fine art paper feed makes insertion easier, reducing the likelihood of damage and removing the need for space behind the printer. Viewing media instructions and checking ink levels is simple with the 2.5-inch colour LCD. And the high-capacity, 25.9ml ink cartridges allow medium print runs to be completed while optimising cost per page.

Epson’s reputation for superior photo quality combined with its advanced UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta inkset means each print is consistently true-to-life. This inkset offers unbeatable greyscale reproduction – important for both colour and black and white prints – thanks to its three densities of black. Either a standard photo or matte black is employed and switched automatically by the printer to suit the media used, along with light black and light light black to create true black and white images. In addition to improving the grey balance and eliminating colour casts, this combination of blacks creates a smoother tonal range with a natural look, perfect for portraits.

Shihab Zubair, Business Development Manager – ProGraphics, Epson Middle East, said, “The R3000, which has been launched after listening to customers’ feedback, is designed to offer photographers and artists a wide range of A3+ prints to meet their diverse needs. The printer allows photographers in the Middle East to tap into our unique ability to choose your own black and white tonality from warm to neutral or cool, and adapt it to suit individual tastes.  These settings can easily be customised and saved, as Epson has designed the R3000’s print driver to be easy to use.”

Users – whether photographers, designers or architects – can also use the supplied professional-quality ICC profiles in their photo editing application to create professional-quality images that suit their unique style without relying on a lab. They can then focus on capturing the perfect shot, rather than having to learn print production skills. And with a high-quality A3+ photo taking just 195 seconds to print, they do not then have to wait to review the result.

And the versatile R3000 allows printing on a variety of media, from roll to cut-sheet fine art paper and board up to 1.3mm thick, making it the ideal choice for total freedom of expression without compromising on quality.

Epson’s new ultra-short-throw projectors make education interactive

EB-455Wi and EB-465i achieve projection sizes up to 97 and 102 inches respectively and are fully interactive right to the corners

April 18, 2011

2125Epson has announced the Middle East launch of its latest interactive projectors: the EB-455Wi and EB-465i.  The projectors also come with a digital pen and wall-mount, enabling schools to easily and affordably tap into interactive learning.  Further, with no need for a separate screen or interactive whiteboard, this adaptable solution can make any flat surface interactive – even a tabletop.

While interactive boards have size limitations, with bigger screens costing more, Epson’s unique mirror-imaging design means these projectors deliver a large projected image from a short distance.  The EB-455Wi and EB-465i achieve projection sizes up to 97 and 102 inches respectively and are fully interactive right to the corners. This ultra-short-throw design means teachers can annotate without casting a big shadow, as a 70-inch projected image is created from a distance of just 15.7 and 12.5cm respectively.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said: “Epson is well placed to understand teachers’ needs and bring easy-to-use interactive projectors to the classroom and to businesses with a need for collaborative working. The EB-455Wi and EB-465i can help teachers in the region bring creativity and interactivity into the classroom, taking the focus away from pen and paper activities.”

With the new projectors, notes, diagrams and additions are created with the digital pen, giving total control of the projection area, and can be saved to share following the lesson. The combination of a powerful integrated 12W speaker plus a microphone input and audio in/out make this a truly effective, plug-and-play multimedia package.
