210• Initiative is part of annual activity, ‘Pump Up the Volume’

Dubai, April 3, 2010: A record number of 169 staff members from ENOC corporate offices experienced a day in the life of frontline ENOC employees by pumping fuel, serving customers at the convenience stores and washing vehicles for a whole day. This was as part of the annual “Pump up the Volume” team building initiative, held at a select number of ENOC stations across Dubai.

The objective of the event was to allow the corporate office staff to experience first-hand the various duties carried out by the frontline staff and understand their roles and responsibilities. The initiative also aimed to further strengthen solidarity and unity among the retail team and corporate employees.

Saeed Abdullah Khoory, Group Chief Executive of ENOC, said: “We believe in a ‘one team with one mission’ strategy that aligns all our employees perfectly with our larger organisational goals. The ‘Pump up the Volume’ initiative brings together employees for a larger understanding of the diverse activities of the company and provide them unique job insights which help them to further enhance overall work efficiency.”

”With 169 employees on board, this year’s activity had the largest number of ENOC’s corporate office volunteers. We believe that it is very important to teach employees about the different areas of business through creative teaching methods. Pump up the Volume has been extremely successful in providing our employees the experience of running the frontline operations in a fun but educational manner,” said Majid Sabt, Retail Operations Manager, ENOC.

Fatma Alghaith, Managing Editor for ENOC’s Internal magazine, Insights, a second year participant in Pump Up the Volume, said, “I learned how challenging it is to be a service station employee and maintain your smile and composure at all times.”

‘Pump up the Volume’ was initiated in 1999 and has witnessed remarkable changes. Earlier, most participating female employees worked as store attendants and men were associated with other tasks such as pumping fuel, mopping, dusting, cleaning windscreens and disposing garbage. Over the years, however, more and more female participants have opted to take up the forecourt duties as well as working in the car wash facility.
