TE Data finalizes the Zaki village development project and celebrates the Egyptian engineer Haitham El Desouky

Engineer Azza Torky: “TE Data intends to expand its CSR activities to include other villages in Fayoum”

Press Release

Cairo: December 21st, 2011

2294TE Data announced finalizing the development of Zaki village in Fayoum. TE Data provided the villagers with health and educational services in addition to their basic necessities such as water, electricity and roofing.  TE Data’s employees also helped them register for birth certificates and ID cards.

TE Data has recently undertaken the development of one of the poorest villages in Fayoum governorate; “Zaki” after conducting a competition called “3ashanek ya Misr” on its Facebook page for the best CSR project .The competition was a great success leading to choosing villages development as the winning initiative as it serves a large number of underprivileged citizens in the society.

“TE Data is very proud of this project” Engineer Azza Torky, TE Data’s Chairman said during a press conference held on the 20th of December 2011.

Torky said that TE Data was able to provide the villagers with their basic necessities from food to medical supplies, in addition to small projects to families in need, stressing that TE Data intends to expand its CSR activities to include other villages in Fayoum as well. The project took around four months in cooperation with dynamic NGOs namely Bedaya and El Orman.  “Our intention is to make El Fayoum governorate a role model for others to follow” added Torky.

Tamer Gaddalla, Managing Director of the enterprise unit in TE Data, said that TE Data was able to implement this project in a relatively short time due to the commitment of TE Data staff and strong desire in improving the living standards of their fellow Egyptians.

TE Data employees paid several visits to Zaki village in order to follow up on the developing process and to maintain a constant relationship with the families in Zaki village. They were accompanied with medical convoys to provide health services and treatment to the villagers in addition to conducting a comprehensive survey on the number of villagers who couldn’t afford to be officially registered whether through National ID cards or birth certificates. This was vital to help the villagers get registered and get birth certificates and ID cards.

“Each employee will be in touch with a family from “Zaki” village on a regular basis to assess their needs and provide them with psychological care and consistent attention” added Gadalla.

During the Press conference, TE Data gave a special award to engineer Haitham El Desouky who won first place in “Science Stars” competition. TE Data had started a press and social media campaign calling on Egyptians to vote for him.

TE Data’s Managing Director Ahmed Ossama said that TE Data had directed its social media channels to call all Egyptians to vote for Haitham and help him win “We are truly proud of El Desouky’s accomplishment and we will continue, not just as a company but as Egyptians as well, to support him in every way possible”

Ossama stressed on the importance of scientific research in Egypt as key to the development and progression of society in the coming period.

Egyptian wood working sector upbeat that move towards economic recovery ushering in more opportunities

First ever ‘Cairo WoodShow’ to showcase stability of Egypt’s wood and wood working machinery segment

October 3, 2011

264The Egyptian wood working sector, which was affected by the political turmoil that occurred earlier this year, is now confident that the country’s move towards economic recovery will help usher in more opportunities, according to Strategic Marketing and Exhibitions (SME), one of the leading exhibition and conference organizers in the United Arab Emirates. The Egyptian government has implemented key programs and initiatives aimed at positioning the country as an attractive investment destination in the next five years. Eyeing to render strong support to these government sponsored initiatives, SME will be organizing the first ever ‘Cairo International Wood & Wood Machinery Show’ (Cairo WoodShow), which will be held from October 9 to October 12, 2011 at the Cairo International Convention Centre (CICC).

The country has maintained its leading position in the Middle East and African (MEA) region’s wood market, which is expected to post over USD 5 billion in the domestic wood production segment by the end of this year. Likewise, Egypt was also able to key in more than USD 3 billion in furniture production and USD 1 billion in furniture exports already this year. The vibrancy demonstrated in these segments, particularly in furniture and wood products, has also shown that the country has been importing 100 per cent of wood panels, machines and tools. To date, Egypt has been dubbed as one of the most promising markets in construction for the MEA region with a yearly spend of USD 7.3 billion. Aiming to spark in more growth for the country’s wood sector, ‘Cairo WoodShow’ is being presented as a key venue to showcase the stability of Egypt’s wood and wood working machinery segment and bring in more growth by acting as a strategic trading platform for Egypt and nearby countries.

“The political unrest that happened earlier this year has managed to affect a lot of workers across various industries. One particular example are workers from the wood working sector, who have found themselves displaced by the protests,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, CEO, Strategic Marketing and Exhibitions. “However, the country’s efforts to regain economic foothold has given these workers the confidence of seeing more opportunities in the next few months. ‘Cairo WoodShow’ is aimed at helping the government showcase the stability of the wood market and thereby attract more opportunities into the country.”

The event will feature exhibitors coming from countries like Romania, Italy, USA, China and Germany. One of the highlights for the exciting four-day event will be the ‘Auction on Fire’ activity, which is an exciting two-hour daily auction of the latest wood products and wood working machinery that will be held at the CICC’s ‘Auction Zone.’ The first day of ‘Cairo WoodShow’ will be exclusively for VIP business personalities coming from 60 countries featuring high profile representatives from the wood business looking for importing and negotiating potential opportunities. The next three days are open to all specialized visitors.

“We are overwhelmed with the positive response that we have received for ‘Cairo WoodShow.’ So far, we have already received a lot of confirmations from companies and organizations participating in Egypt’s first of its kind wood and wood machinery exhibition. We remain upbeat that ‘Cairo WoodShow’ will help spark new opportunities between exhibitors and potential partners, which can ultimately drive in more growth and development for the country,” concluded Al Shezawi.

Epson 1815 projectors used to develop immersive display system that takes audiences on a virtual journey through different eras of Egypt

2159Epson, the global market leader in projectors, has announced a successful collaboration with the award-winning Egyptian Center for Documentation of Cultural & Natural Heritage (CULTNAT) in implementing a state-of-the-art IT solution to promote Egypt’s rich cultural and natural heritage. Epson revealed that nine Epson 1815 projectors are being used at CULTNAT’s fully interactive multimedia program known as Cultural Panorama (CULTURAMA), which offers audiences an opportunity to experience virtual journeys through the different eras of Egyptian civilization, starting from the Pharaonic period, passing through the Coptic and Islamic, and ending with the modern era.

The Epson 1815 projectors, which are mounted on the ceiling in a semi-circular formation and are controlled by a single computer, and a 180-degree interactive computer screen, which consists of nine individual screens also arranged in a semicircular shape, combine to make CULTURAMA a world-class immersive display system. Eng. Mohamed Farouk, Vice President – IT, CULTNAT, said: “Epson has been chosen to provide some of the hardware components of CULTURAMA because of the company’s strong reputation in terms of product durability and service excellence. The Epson 1815 projectors also deliver fantastic colours that match the technical requirements of the interactive display system. In addition, the projectors have excellent real lamp life and we are likewise fully satisfied with the high level of maintenance and after-sales services being provided by Epson.”

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, “CULTURAMA is a very important initiative that provides an innovative, informative and entertaining platform to promote, preserve and create awareness about the rich history and heritage of Egypt. Epson is thus pleased to be part of this project and to offer our products and expertise for its success. We will build on our partnership with the Egyptian Center for Documentation of Cultural & Natural Heritage to support similar high-profile projects to achieve the desired results in terms of image quality and overall projector performance.”

CULTNAT, which is supported by Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is mandated to document the various aspects of Egypt’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage as well as its natural heritage. The Center has been recognised by various awards-giving bodies for its efforts to apply information technology to the field of cultural and natural heritage documentation.

The Epson 1815 projector has been renowned for its clear, bright images in superb colour using Epson’s 3LCD technology, while it is also recognised for its low-power consumption through the E-TORL lamp technology. The projector also perfectly aligns images in all room shapes and sizes with the Automatic Keystone Correction and features an exclusive Quick Setup to automatically project a perfect image. It also comes with the EasyMP™ Monitor Suite that enables remote network monitoring and control and even sends automatic email alerts and reports in the unlikely event of technical problems.
