The Al-Futtaim group company will give 25 lucky winners an opportunity to win shopping vouchers of AED 10,000/- each with 5 winners picked every week. With no set minimum purchase criteria, all customers shopping at any Al-Futtaim Watches & Jewellery, The Watch House or Time Zone store will to be eligible to participate in the draw.

The 32-day DSF which attracts millions of visitors each year will be held from January 5 to February 5, 2012.

Jacky’s Electronics’ Eco-Exchange Programme major factor in sales increase during DSF



Company sees 40% rise in key product categories

292With more customers deciding to recycle their electronics when buying new products, Jacky’s Electronics has seen a sales growth in key product categories during the month long Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).

Since expanding its Eco-Exchange programme early this year to accept old notebooks, cameras, MP3 players and gaming consoles, more customers have exchanged their old products for cash vouchers to upgrade to the latest tech gadgets in the market. As one of the few retailers who offer such services meant more customers who are going green shopped at Jacky’s outlets to recycle and buy electronics during DSF.

This contributed to company’s sales increase of 35 to 40% in product categories such as smartphones, tablet PCs and televisions throughout the festival period. Among the popular products were the Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Apple iPhone 4 and BlackBerry smartphones while the upcoming Cricket World Cup has boosted the sales of televisions.

“The Eco-Exchange programme generated awareness this year showing that more people are not only after buying the newest products in the market but are becoming environmentally aware. The cash vouchers we provided for every product being recycled were one of the key factors for our increased sales as more people now tend to let go of their old gadgets to get new ones,” said Ashish Panjabi, Chief Operating Officer, Jacky’s Electronics.

“With the festival season coinciding with the Chinese New Year and the school holidays in Saudi Arabia, we have seen a visible increase in the number of Chinese and Saudi tourists who shopped with us. There were also plenty of Indian nationals who came to our outlets across the country,” he added.

Jacky’s DSF promotions of free gifts and a wide range of value bundles in key product categories have been received well by its customers. It also partnered with Paris Gallery to raffle away 32” BenQ LCD TVs every day for the entire DSF which contributed to the company’s sales growth.

Times Square Center sees significant increase in footfall during DSF 2010


2113Times Square Center’s (TSC) participation in the 15th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival culminated with the grand raffle draw, which saw Srinivas Munja from India winning a brand new Chevrolet Cruze. Throughout the duration of DSF 2010, Times Square Center gave away attractive raffle draw prizes including Toshiba LCD TVs, Sony Home Theatres, Dell Inspiron netbook computers and gift vouchers, among others. In addition, popular TSC tenants such as Toys R Us, Sharaf DG, YellowHat and Chillout offered major discounts and promotions.

dsf2010_inFrom golden necklaces to flat screen TVs, Dubai Shopping Festival is without a doubt theworld’s premier shopping event of the year.  Now in its 15th year, DSF 2010 promises to be one of the biggest and grandest in history!  As the festival kicks off, more details are starting to roll in as excitement spreads throughout the city.

It has been announced for instance, that DSF 2010 will be raffling off an incredible 80 cars and Dhs 3 million in cash over the festival period, running from January 28 to February 28.  More than 6,000 retail outlets and nearly 50 malls and shopping centers are estimated to be taking part in the exceptional promotions.  According to event organizers, over 150 international and regional events are being held in the UAE over this period, with activities concentrated in areas like Al Seef, Dhiyafah and Rigga.  Eager consumers are flying in from all corners of the world, and hotels are benefitting from the influx of tourists.

Around three million visitors attended DSF 2009, spending a collective total of nearly Dhs 10 billion!  Both of those numbers were positive gains compared to the year before, and there is no reason to expect a slowdown in 2010.

DSF-special Arts and Crafts Soukh to be held at Times Square Center on February 12

dsc_5744-1Times Square Center (TSC), one of the newest community oriented shopping centers in Dubai, has announced that it will be organising a special Arts and Crafts Soukh on Friday, February 12, 2010 to complement the Dubai Shopping Festival celebrations taking place at the Center. The soukh will feature some of the UAE’s best contemporary artwork created by the members of the Artisans of the Emirates (ARTE) group.

In addition to special handcrafted items like jewellery and accessories, the soukh will offer authentic homemade food items like pastries and cakes, displayed in a unique setting to give visitors a different kind of shopping experience.

Anthony J O’Donnell, General Manager, Times Square Center, said, “The Arts and Crafts Soukh at Times Square Center always generates a major response primarily because of the perennial appeal of handcrafted goods and homemade food items. We expect this edition of the soukh to draw a greater number of visitors since it coincides with the Dubai Shopping Festival celebrations we have at TSC, which means that customers can expect to find real bargains.”       

Times Square Center had earlier announced attractive promotions at the Center during DSF 2010, including raffle draws to win a Chevrolet Cruze, Toshiba LCD TVs, Sony Home Theatres, Dell Inspiron netbook computers and gift vouchers, among others.
