Carpets and flooring solutions exhibition DOMOTEX Middle East runs back-to-back with inaugural edition of R+T Middle East that is dedicated to roller shutters, doors, gates and sun-protection systems
May 10, 2010
Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has today (Monday, May 10, 2010) opened DOMOTEX Middle East 2010, the only dedicated carpets and floor coverings exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa region, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by Deutsche Messe Dubai, DOMOTEX Middle East will run from May 10 to 12 and is being concurrently held with R+T Middle East 2010, the Middle East spin-off of the world’s leading show for roller shutters, doors, gates and sun-protection systems.
Angela Schaschen, Managing Director, Deutsche Messe Dubai, said: “The Middle East continues to be a highly attractive destination for global suppliers of flooring solutions and this is clearly evident in this year’s edition of DOMOTEX Middle East. Exhibitors are now becoming more aggressive in targeting long-term prospects in the region and they are certainly taking full advantage of the networking potential of DOMOTEX to generate new business leads and boost brand awareness. This year’s show has been made even more attractive to both suppliers and trade buyers as we are introducing R+T Middle East, bringing a wider array of industrial building solutions and creating a one-stop shop for all developers and contractors in the Middle East & North Africa region.”
R+T Middle East further noted that international manufacturers and distributors have been attracted by the growth potential of MENA countries such as the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Egypt. In the UAE for instance, the country’s construction sector is poised to sustain a compound annual growth rate of around 20 per cent from 2010 to 2013.
DOMOTEX Middle East has assembled a powerful selection of leading global exhibitors who will be presenting a comprehensive selection of carpets and flooring products and services, including hand-made and machine-made carpets; textile and resilient floor coverings; parquet and other wood floors; laminates; ceramic tiles, natural stone floors and marble, floors for sports arenas and sports facilities; fibres, yarns and textiles; application and floor laying techniques and equipment; machinery and technology. The trade event targets wholesalers and retailers as well as decision-makers from construction companies, architects, interior designers, project planners, floor layers and fitters.
Making its debut in the region, R+T Middle East 2010 will feature a comprehensive range of specialised products and services, including roller shutters and accessories; windows, window shutters and accessories; awnings; Venetian blinds and roller blinds; doors/gates and accessories; drive and control systems; electrical security equipment; business fittings and furnishings; and technical literature.
R+T Middle East is jointly organised by Deutsche Messe Dubai Branch and Messe Stuttgart. The event is also under the technical and conceptual sponsorship of the Federal Association for Manufacturers of Roller shutters and Sun protection (Bundesverband Rollladen + Sonnenschutz e.V.) and the National Federation of Door and Gate Manufacturers (BVT - Verband Tore). The event seeks to sustain the momentum generated by R+T 2009 held at the New Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre and the recently held R+T Asia 2010 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, which attracted more than 330 exhibitors from eight countries and over 13,000 visitors.
DOMOTEX Middle East is expected to build on the momentum generated by DOMOTEX HANNOVER 2010, which was held from 16th to 19th January 2010. DOMOTEX HANNOVER reported a substantial rise in attendance with some 38,000 professionals visiting the event and a total of 1,376 exhibiting companies from over 65 countries. This year’s participation represented a three per cent growth in visitor attendance while exhibitor numbers have remained steady. The positive turnout has ensured the continued success of DOMOTEX HANNOVER in spite of the tough global economic conditions and has given the industry the stimulus for sustained growth throughout the year. Meanwhile, DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR, which was held from March 23rd to 25th 2010, witnessed an overwhelming number of visitors. The visitor footfall at DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR was a testament that the flooring industry was back on track in China.
