Donations to charities exceed SAR 1 billion as Holy month of Ramadan draws near

Jeddah, July 23 2011: In anticipation of the Holy month of Ramadan, which starts in a few weeks time, most companies in KSA donate charitable associations where the total of donations reached SAR 1 billion and within Al Rabie Saudi Food Co. has recently led a donation campaign to raise funds for charities in all regions of Saudi Arabia. The donations included associations providing assistance for older people as well as children with special needs and others to lessen the suffering of individuals and families in need across the Kingdom. 

This initiative complements the company’s strategies and social responsibility programs, which it is keen on implementing over a sustained period. The proceeds of the campaign will be donated to several charitable organisations in KSA, and other similar specialised institutions that are focused on providing financial and moral support to those in need.   

“We thank God for giving us the fortune to celebrate this Holy month. We ask God almighty to accept our efforts and charitable acts which were aimed at easing the suffering of the needy, by donating to our brothers across KSA through the charitable organisations. We also thank all the officials and managers of these organisations for the ongoing efforts to deliver the donations to the right people,” said Monther Al Harthi, CEO, Al Rabie Saudi Foods.

The social responsibility program of Al Rabie Saudi Foods is a key element of its strategy, as the company is always eager to achieve a balance between business, environmental and social objectives.

“We greatly appreciate the role of charities in building a healthy and balanced society. We launched this initiative to support and strengthen these efforts, while also encouraging residents and the corporate sector to be part of it. We also affirm that we will constantly provide a series of initiatives within our corporate social responsibility theme to serve the Saudi society, not only in Ramadan but also along the year round as well as to provide the best foods and juices following international standards to achieve our motto of (heath for all).” Al Harthi concluded.

Top Arab celebrities to perform at ‘The Noble Humanitarian Awards Middle East’


Ragheb Alami, Assi Halani, Yusra, Saber Rebai, Ehab Tawfik and Hussein Al Jasmi are among the many celebrities providing entertainment at the star-studded gala event

2194Top Arab celebrities are set to perform at the ‘The Noble Humanitarian Awards Middle East’, a prestigious annual gathering that recognises the achievements of philanthropic organisations, which will be staged in the region for the first time to honor charities for their outstanding humanitarian programs. Famous Egyptian actress Yusra will be hosting the show, with Ragheb Alami, Hussein Al Jasmi, Assi Halani, Saber Rebai and Ehab Tawfik among the many high profile Arab celebrities who would be performing and presenting the awards during the star-studded award ceremony, which will be held at the Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi on April 24, 2010.

Among the honourees this year are ‘UAE Red Crescent Authority’, ‘UNICEF’, ‘The General Women’s Union’, ‘Dubai Autism Centre’, ‘Dubai Cares’, ‘Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care, Special Needs and Minors Affairs’, ‘Friends of Cancer Patients Society’, ‘Gulf for Good’, ‘Life for Relief & Development’ and ‘Make-A-Wish Foundation’. Each charity organisation will be presented with an award sculpture designed by top Hollywood personality Antonio Banderas, which are incorporated with personal messages from special needs children who participated at the ‘Making of the Noble Award’ workshop.

“The resounding support being given to ‘The Noble Humanitarian Awards Middle East’ by the A-list celebrities in Arab entertainment industry, adds significantly to our efforts to turn the spotlight on the great work being accomplished by this year’s honourees, and we are very grateful for their support in this initiative. ‘The Noble Humanitarian Awards Middle East’ to honour charities for their outstanding humanitarian efforts


Launch of annual event seeks to elevate awareness on charity organisation honourees and the impact of their work in the region

2112‘The Noble Humanitarian Awards Middle East’, a prestigious annual gathering that recognises the achievements of philanthropic organisations, will be staged in the Middle East for the first time to honour regional charities for their outstanding humanitarian programs. The event, which will be held at the Emirates Palace on April 24th, 2010, aims to elevate awareness on the work of regional and international charity organisations and the impact of their work in the lives of people across the globe. The gala is being organised by The Celebrity Charity Awards Corporation, a U.S non-profit organisation working to unify the efforts of charities with celebrities, influencers, media and citizens to create an effective forum for change.

Among the many charity organisation-honourees this year is the Dubai Autism Centre, Dubai Cares, Friends of Cancer Patients Society, Gulf for Good, Life for Relief & Development, and Make-A-Wish Foundation. Representatives from the said organisations are set to receive an award sculpture designed by Hollywood star and philanthropist Antonio Banderas, with personal touches to the award added by children. With the event also set to feature live performances by regional as well as international artists, the star-studded ‘Noble Humanitarian Awards Middle East’ gala is scheduled to be broadcast throughout the region on free-to-air channels including Abu Dhabi TV.
