ALHOSN University’s 2nd Annual Career Fair reveals opportunities in Gulf’s top job destination

UAE favored by 49 per cent of GCC-based expats

April 13, 2011

293ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based university dedicated to high quality, value-based education, launched its 2nd Annual Career Fair yesterday (Tuesday, April 12, 2011) to facilitate meetings between its students and alumni and various local and regional employers.

The fair capitalized on the UAE’s current status as the Gulf’s top employment destination, with 49 per cent of the region’s expatriate workers favoring the domestic job market. Participating employers provided information about their organization, met with potential recruits, and targeted the core engineering, applied science, business, and educational competencies of ALHOSN students.

“The huge turnout at this year’s fair shows how the UAE has proven itself to be one of the Middle East’s most stable and forward-looking job destinations over the past few months. The introduction of more worker-friendly policies in the UAE at the beginning of 2011 is spurring very promising employment opportunities, many of which are being featured in our event. Our employer profile for the 2011 fair offers a great advantage to our job-hunting students and alumni who want to be part of progressive organizations,” said Ms. Mahasen Al Mahasneh, Career Development Coordinator, ALHOSN University.

Founded in 2005, ALHOSN University has emerged as one of Abu Dhabi’s top educational institutions. Its 11 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Business, and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences were developed in collaboration with leading North American educational institutions and are open to students of all nationalities

ADNEC to advance 2010 Emiratization drive at Zayed University’s Career Fair

28411th April 2010 Abu Dhabi: ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company) will participate in the day-long Zayed University career fair tomorrow (April 12), as part of a series of university roadshows aimed at advancing the company’s Emiratization programme for 2010.

At tomorrow’s event, ADNEC, whose employee rolls already comprise several Zayed University alumni, will highlight the growth of Abu Dhabi’s thriving meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector, and the career opportunities available at ADNEC.

“We are delighted to not only participate but also be the Gold Sponsor at the ZU career fair. ADNEC has recently renewed our focus on tapping fresh graduates from the UAE’s educational institutions and Zayed University has always been a wonderful source of employee talent for us. We look forward to welcoming graduates with the dynamism and determination to drive one of the region’s fastest-growing growth sectors, to join the ADNEC team,” said Humaid Al Dhaheri, ADNEC’s Director of Finance & Human Resources.

“While ADNEC is focussed on UAE talent, the fact that we have 27 different nationalities, with varied sector-expertise in the company, also provides a multi-cultural learning environment,” he added.

Since ADNEC’s participation at February’s Tawdheef Recruitment Fair at which the company shortlisted 100 UAE National candidates, ADNEC has participated in other career-oriented events at Abu Dhabi Men’s College, Abu Dhabi University and Al Hosn University.

Commenting on the positive results of ADNEC’s university engagement, Al Dhaheri, said: “Since we started our university visits we have received a lot of inquiries from students who are impressed by the growing social and economic impact of the events industry. UAE Nationals in particular are genuinely interested in building careers in this (events) business and advancing the contributions of this sector to local and national development plans”

ADNEC will also announce the winners of its ‘ADNEC Through Your Eyes’ amateur photography contest during the Zayed University career fair. Launched exclusively for students and alumni of Zayed University, the competition will recognise the most creative photographs of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The overall winner will enjoy a complimentary stay at the ADNEC-owned Aloft Abu Dhabi which is interconnected with the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Following the ZU career fair, ADNEC will participate in the Al Ain career fair on 3 May 2010.
