Bait Al Khair lauds BinSina Pharmacy Group’s role in supporting humanitarian causes in UAE


2209Dubai, UAE, 28th January 2012: Bait Al Khair Society, a charitable organization and a leading humanitarian services provider in the UAE, has hailed the role of BinSina Pharmacy Group, the oldest pharmacy chain the in the UAE, in extensively supporting humanitarian causes in the country.
 
This is in connection with the Group’s recent contribution to the Society’s operations as part of its CSR plans for 2011.

Established in 1989, Bait Al Khair Society raises funds and organizes programs for uplifting the disadvantaged sections of UAE society. Widows, divorcees, low-income nationals, patients, disabled nationals, families of prisoners, nationals with special needs, orphans and students from poor families come into the ambit of the organization. In order to carry out its charitable initiatives, Bait Al Khair Society works in collaboration with public welfare institutions in the UAE.

Bait Al Khair Society has been keen to spread the message of humanitarianism since its establishment, with the support of public and private sectors. This joint initiative between Bait Al Khair and Bin Sina Pharmacy demonstrates the social responsibility of the private sector in the UAE in helping the society.

Dr. Saleema Shurrab, General Manager of BinSina Pharmacy Group in the UAE, said: “It is a pleasure to support local non-profit organizations as part of BinSina Pharmacy Group’s strategy to play a stronger role in raising the quality life in the UAE by lending support to needy people. By supporting humanitarian activities, BinSina Pharmacy seeks to give something back to the society and this has been the top priority of its community outreach programmes for the past five years.

BinSina pharmacy Group, established in 1965, was the first ever licensed pharmacy in Dubai.  It began operations with a team of 12 people and currently employs more than 250 employees from 16 nationalities.

Dubai, UAE, 3rd September 2011: Celebrating Eid Al Fitr, BinSina Pharmacy Group presented gifts to Dubai Autism Center that can be used to enhance the learning experience of the students at the center.
 
Dubai Autism Center is an innovative nonprofit organization serving children with autism spectrum disorders. BinSina’s gesture was aimed at providing tools that will help create a joyful learning environment to children with autism during the coming school year.

Hayula Mourad, Business Support & Communication Unit Head, Dubai Autism Center said: “We thank BinSina Pharmacy Group for their thoughtful initiative and we look forward to their continuous support of the Autism cause.”

As a non-profit organization the center relies on fundraising and donations to carry out its commitment and mission. Dubai Autism Center is committed to integrating children with Autism into the community through a holistic approach to intervention and therapies, together with focused efforts to create social awareness about autism.

Dr. Saleema Shurrab, General Manager of BinSina Pharmacy Group in the UAE added: “We are delighted to be able to provide children with autism spectrum disorder joy and happiness while learning. This is part of our commitment to support non-profit organizations in the humanitarian work. We have a devised plan to extensively cooperate with different humanitarian organizations all over the UAE to support the quality of life of needy people in the country.”

Mourad added: “The center is keen on preserving resources and has checked a sample to make sure that the toys are suitable for the students. The toys have interactive element that can be used by teachers and therapists for motivation.”

BinSina Pharmacy has participated in other humanitarian activities, including assisting in hosting the annual World Down Syndrome Day Walkathon earlier this year.

Moreover, the group of pharmacies, which owns more than 40 pharmacies in the UAE, was praised three days ago by the UAE Down Syndrome Association for presenting Eid gifts to children facing this syndrome in the UAE.

259Dubai, UAE, 10th July, 2011: The UAE Down Syndrome Association has hailed the role BinSina Pharmacy Group in supporting the rehabilitation of Down patients into society at the association’s annual ceremony held at Shangri-la Hotel in Dubai recently.

Sonia Al Hashimi, Board Chairperson of the Down Syndrome Association thanked BinSina Pharmacy for its relentless support to people suffering from Down syndrome and their rehabilitation into social mainstream.

Parents of Down syndrome children attended the ceremony along with members of the elite, the media and representatives of organisations that contribute to improving the quality of life of Down syndrome patients.

Among the many activities, BinSina Pharmacy assisted in hosting the annual World Down Syndrome Day Walkathon in April 2011.

Ayman Hanbali, Marketing Manager, Al Khayyat Investments, owner of BinSina Pharmacy in the UAE, received the award from H.E. Mohammed bin Sulayem, Chairman of Emirates Automobile and Touring Club and Al Hashimi.

Al Hashimi added: “The private sector should follow the example of BinSina Pharmacy in contributing to combating Down syndrome in the UAE. We are making efforts to highlight how people with Down syndrome can join the mainstream if we deal with them properly and encourage them to integrate into the community. We value the contribution of companies and organizations, especially BinSina Pharmacy, in raising awareness of Down syndrome.”

The UAE Down Syndrome Association provides various services, such as speech and occupational therapy, to improve the lives of children and people with Down syndrome in the UAE. The Association pursues the goal of raising awareness about people with Down syndrome and their value in our society.

Al Hashimi added: “Many of the people with Down syndrome are very creative people, and some are excellent athletes participating in Special Olympics for several years for instance.”

Hanbali said: “We thank UAE Down Syndrome Association for this felicitation. At Al Khayyat Investments, we are committed to corporate social responsibility. We will continue to work closely with the association to increase awareness about the rights of people with Down syndrome. We also plan to work with the community in boosting the skills of Down syndrome persons, integrating them into society and helping them become productive.”

Down syndrome is associated with some impairment of cognitive ability and physical growth and a particular set of facial characteristics. Individuals with Down syndrome tend to have a lower-than-average cognitive ability, ranging from mild to moderate disabilities.

Al Hashimi said: “Our goal for World Down Syndrome Day was to raise awareness of the rights and dignity of people with Down syndrome. With the help of BinSina Pharmacy, we were able to achieve that goal. We truly appreciate BinSina’s public support for our cause.”

The new pharmacy is strategically located at the K.M. Trading Centre at King Abdul Aziz Rd, one of the most active places in Sharjah. The outlet will serve K.M Trading Centre visitors as well as neighbouring areas, such as Al Qasemeyyah area, Abu Shaghara area, Al Wahdah St. area  & some northern parts of the emirate.

Dubai, UAE, 3rd May 2011: Amer Jalamneh, Manager of BinSina Pharmacy at Dubai Mall, was named the ‘BinSina Pharmacist for 2010 at the recently held annual offsite meeting of Al Khayyat Investments, owners of BinSina Pharmacy.

The award comes at a time when BinSina Pharmacy in Dubai Mall saw a sale growth of over 35% in one year.

Dubai, UAE, 14th April, 2011: Royalty, celebrities, government officials, VIPs, corporations and community groups from all over the UAE joined hands with children and young people suffering from Down Syndrome to raise awareness of the rights and dignity of patients.

BinSina Pharmacy, the oldest pharmacy in the UAE, owned by Al Khayyat Investments, supported the World Down Syndrome Day Walkathon 2011 organized by UAE Down Syndrome Association.

UAE Down Syndrome Association President, Mrs. Sonia Al Hashimi, thanked BinSina for supporting the event.

Clive Stanley the CEO of the retail division at Al Khayyat Investment owner of BinSina Pharmacy said: “It is a matter of great pride to work with the UAE Down Syndrome Association in this cause of raising awareness of the rights of people with Down syndrome. Children’s activity stations were placed throughout the Dubai Mall where Down Syndrome and other children joined the program.

Storytelling, face painting, balloon bending, football, hand painting, cupcake decorating, photography and Jigsaw puzzles and t-shirt decoration were some of the fun activities.

 The UAE Down Syndrome Association provides various services, such as speech therapy and occupational therapy, to improve the lives of children and people with Down Syndrome in the UAE. The Association has the ongoing aim of raising awareness about people with Down Syndrome and their value in our society. Many of them are very creative and some are excellent athletes having participated in several Special Olympics.

Al Hashimi, added: “We want people everywhere to understand how beautiful the people with Down Syndrome make our world. The response of the community and in particular the corporate community has been overwhelming. There has been a lot of encouragement from businesses that have come forward to assist in our awareness raising endeavors.”

The new outlet will cater to the needs of the residents living in Al Warqaa and Al Shurooq areas.

Nearly 75 percent of customers of the new pharmacy are locals, of which 85 percent are young couples according to BinSina Pharmacy.
