Emirates NBD opens branch at The Residences

emirates-nbd-opens-branch-at-the-residences-2Dubai, February 13, 2010: Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the Middle East in terms of assets, announced today the opening of its newest branch at The Residences, a cluster of nine high-rise towers in Downtown Dubai, adjacent to The Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, the recently inaugurated world’s tallest tower. The second Emirates NBD branch to open this year complements the bank’s existing network of 110 branches and 650 ATMs, the largest such network in the UAE.

“Reaching all our customers, irrespective of where they live, work or spend their leisure time, is one of the highest priorities at Emirates NBD,” said Jamal Bin Ghalaita, Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Emirates NBD. “At a time when the bank is finalising the complete external and internal rebranding of its domestic network – while also rebranding its international network, including branches in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Kingdom – we remain focused on expanding our network and increasing our range of innovative products and services.”

“Located in the heart of one of Dubai’s most thriving communities and just steps from The Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, our new branch in The Residences will meet the needs of a wide range of customers,” added Suvo Sarkar, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Retail Banking, Emirates NBD. “This latest branch is the fourth branch to open in the Burj Khalifa area, with two already situated inside Dubai Mall and one other at the Manzil residences.

“This new branch is in addition to the 16 ATMs spread conveniently throughout this bustling business, residential and leisure community, populated with people from diverse backgrounds. We are very pleased to announce the continued expansion of our domestic branch network, tailored to meet a diverse range of banking needs, such as Personal, Priority and Private banking,” he concluded.

With extended opening hours, the branch will be operate from 9AM-9PM, Saturday to Thursday and offer the complete range of Emirates NBD services.

Total deposits with Saudi banks has hit USD 245 billion at the end of June 2009, according to a report by BMG Financial Group, as a result of their efforts to attract more deposits and address higher demand for Islamic banking services, which provide low cost of funding and high profit margins. In addition, bank lending to the Kingdom’s private sector rose for the first time in three months in February, albeit a mere 0.2 per cent, according to a report by an information partner of REIDIN.com, the world’s first and leading global online information services provider.
