Abu Dhabi, UAE, 5 July 2011: Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, the premier operator of ultra-luxury hotels and resorts, has appointed Paul Arnold as Vice President of Development of the company’s Global Development Team for the Middle East, Africa and Indian Ocean.

In this newly created position, Arnold will be responsible for leading Rosewood’s expansion initiatives within the MEAIO regions, as well as providing support for development activities in Europe.

“Paul has spent the past seven years in the Middle East and brings extensive hospitality experience, a strong industry network and deep regional market knowledge to his new position,” said Alex Alt, Senior Vice President of Global Development and Strategy for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

“His experience and wealth of knowledge make him the ideal candidate to build upon the success of Rosewood’s Saudi Arabian properties as well as drive the opening of Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Rosewood Dubai hotels.  We look forward to watching Rosewood’s growth and penetration in these regions accelerate under his leadership”.

Arnold joins Rosewood following 12 years working globally with Ernst & Young, five of which were spent in the United States before relocating to the Dubai office where he helped establish and eventually became responsible for leading the company’s real estate, hospitality and leisure advisory services practice across the Middle East and North Africa region.

Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Arnold began his career in the hotel industry by serving in operational roles at several hotel properties within the United States.  He is a graduate of the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. 

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts currently operates three hotels in the Middle East – Al Faisaliah Hotel, A Rosewood Hotel and Hotel Al Khozama in Riyadh and Rosewood Corniche in Jeddah. 

Rosewood Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open in the summer of 2012, following the recent appointment of Luigi Romaniello to Managing Director, while Rosewood Dubai will become operational in late 2012.

Andy Zollo takes over as Vice President–EMEA

Dubai – February 10th, 2011: SonicWALL, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent network security and data protection solutions, today announced the appointment of Andy Zollo as Vice President of SonicWALL Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Andy brings to this role more than four years of experience within SonicWALL’s lead-ership group, first as Country Manager of the United Kingdom (UK) and most recently as Director of northern Europe, which includes the Benelux and the Nordics. Andy joined SonicWALL from Extreme Networks, where, he was country manager for the UK. 

Andy in his role with SonicWALL UK was responsible for maintaining and growing the region to SonicWALL’s largest market in EMEA. In his new role, his objective is to make SonicWALL the market share leader for all of Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The appointment comes after the SonicWALL Senior Executive Leadership Partner Conference held in the UK.  At the event, SonicWALL and over 100 partners, rolled out their strategy for 2011 and recognised the successes and outstanding achieve-ments.

Board of Trustees ratifies the appointment of Dr. Hadif Al Owais as Acting Director of DIAC

Dubai, UAE: Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), an initiative of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced today the appointment of Dr. Hadif Al Owais as its new acting director.  Dr. Al Owais will replace DIAC’s current director, Dr. Hussam Al Talhuni.

Established in 1994, the Dubai International Arbitration Centre is an independent, non-profit institution that has established itself as the most prominent Arbitration Centre locally and regionally providing flexible and impartial mechanisms in resolving and settling international disputes.

Dubai, UAE June 28, 2010 – HP today announced the appointment of Diaa Mohamed as General Manager- Human Resources for HP Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa (MEMA).

In his new role, Diaa will oversee the development and implementation of a robust people strategy that will strengthen hp’s position as a preferred employer of choice for the best available talent in the MEMA region, which covers 71countries.

Prior to this role, Diaa was the VP of Human Resources at BP overseeing Middle East, North Africa & South Asia.  His past work experience also includes successful stint at Motorola where he was the regional director of Human Resources for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

Mohamed’s appointment will provide further momentum to HP’s existing recruitment and development programme which will enable HP to achieve its ambitious growth plans and contribute to the development of local talent across MEMA.

He has received the HR Leadership Award by the Asia Pacific HRM Congress in Feb 2007 and Global HR Award by Rapport Bangladesh Limited in July 2008.

Dubai, UAE, June 15 2010: Amadeus Gulf, today announced the appointment of two new executives to its UAE sales team. Shafeekh Azeez joins as Director of Sales for Dubai and Northern Emirates, while Jauhar Abdul Gafoor has been appointed as the Sales Manager for Abu Dhabi.

Prior to Amadeus, Shafeekh was the Commercial Manager with Al Rostamani Travel where he worked for almost 10 years and held several key positions.  In his last role as Commercial Manager, Shafeekh headed the Corporate Travel, Retail Travel, Business Development, Marketing and Sales divisions.  Shafeekh has more than 12 years of regional travel industry experience. He has an MBA from Strathclyde Business School, Glasgow, UK and a BBA from Mysore University, India.

Additionally, Jauhar Abdul Gafoor has been appointed as Amadeus’ Sales Manager for Abu Dhabi. Jauhar takes on this role moving from his earlier position as Technical Support Manager at Amadeus where he spent ten years covering markets such as UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Syria.
