4123Five Star carrier Qatar Airways held a large press briefing along with Airbus at the Airbus Factory in Hamburg, Germany, on Tuesday as the airline took delivery of its highly anticipated first A380.

With 10 Airbus A380-800s on order, Qatar Airways is preparing to take delivery of four of them before the end of this year.

Speaking at the press conference Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “This has been a moment more than a decade in the making and we are so delighted to unveil a new passenger experience for our travellers.

“The A380 that we are introducing is not just any A380; we have completely designed every element, giving it a signature touch that has never been seen before on board.

“Additionally, the newly opened Hamad International Airport, the airline’s hub in Doha, has been specifically created with the A380 in mind, with five contact gates dedicated only for this aircraft, making the experience smooth and effortless for passengers.

“At Qatar Airways we pay careful consideration to all elements of the passenger experience and are regularly introducing innovations that make a travel experience what it should be – enjoyable and something to look forward to.”

The press event in Hamburg featured a lively round of questions for Mr. Al Baker as the highly anticipated super-jumbo makes its debut, joining the Qatar Airways fleet.

The airline will first introduce A380 services on one of its frequencies on the Doha – London route from October, followed by Paris Charles De Gaulle shortly thereafter.

“We are very pleased to welcome Qatar Airways as the latest airline to offer unprecedented A380 services to the world. The multi-award-winning carrier and our flagship product are a perfect match to excite the flying public in all markets,” said Fabrice Brégier, Airbus President and CEO. “Leading carrier Qatar Airways aims for the best, and we are proud our A380 is an essential ingredient in their strategy to show-off their excellence and hospitality, connecting the world.”

The First Class seats feature a 90-inch pitch with a fully flat bed.

Business Class seats feature a pitch of 52 inches which also recline to fully flat beds.

Economy Class passengers benefit from the most spacious A380 arrangement flying in the skies, with a pitch of 32 inches spread in a 10-seats-across layout.

The premium cabin is fitted with multiple bespoke elements such as luxe finishings and tailor-made fabrics designed exclusively for the airline.

In-flight entertainment on board is state-of-the-art using the Thales mainframe Top Series Avant system with features such as an Android open platform with intuitive swipe functions and customised HD monitor of up to 26 inches in First Class.

The airline currently operates a mixed fleet of the Airbus family of aircraft, a large contingent being the single-aisle A320s and also a mixed range of A330s and A340s.

In the last quarter of 2014, it is expected that the airline will start receiving its first A350 XWB aircraft as the world’s launch customer

44Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced it will release system software update version 1.70 for PlayStation®4 (PS4™) system on April 30, delivering new features that expand the social connectivity options and make it easier for gamers to share their experiences in a more meaningful way. In addition, the PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) system software has recently been updated to deepen integration and improve compatibility with the PS4 system. Similarly the Playstation®App will be updated in tandem with the PS4 system software update. These updates will further strengthen the PS4 system by adding a host of new features and enhancements, many of them highly-anticipated and requested.

“We’re immensely proud of the current success of PS4, having already built a community of over 7 million gamers worldwide,” said Isabelle Tomatis, Marketing Director, SCEE. “At the heart of our success is being for the gamer and this update is another great example of that. We have listened to our community and delivered the most highly anticipated and requested features. Being the most socially connected console is very important to us and with this update, we are confident of achieving that and creating a unique and exciting experience.”

Highlights for the 1.70 update include:

Edit and Share Best Gameplay Moments with SHAREfactory™

Once PS4 owners update to system software version 1.70, they will be able to elevate their game sharing by downloading the new SHAREfactory app, the PS4 system’s rich video editor that allows users to easily customize their gameplay videos with special effects including filters, transitions and themes. SHAREfactory provides access to a robust suite of tools to personalize videos by adding text and video commentary with picture-in-picture capability using PlayStation®Camera. PS4 owners can also add a custom soundtrack to their videos using the included audio tracks or by importing their original music. With this rich set of features, SHAREfactory enables players to create a polished compilation of their most epic gaming moments to share with their friends and social networks.

Immediacy and streamlined access to content is a core part of the PS4 experience, with existing features such as “Play As You Download.” Shortly following the 1.70 update, players will have the ability to automatically download select games pre-ordered from PlayStation®Store prior to the release, so it’s ready to play as soon as the game launches. PS Vita 3.15 Update

The PS Vita system has recently received a system software update to version 3.15 with the same timing as the PS4 1.70 update, adding some key feature enhancements that will strengthen the connectivity and integration between the PS Vita and PS4 systems. The 3.15 update enables Automatic Device Registration, which has automatically paired the devices when both systems are online and the same user is signed in to both, making it even easier to link a PS Vita system with a PS4 system for Remote Play and other second screen features.

PlayStation App 1.70 Update

The PlayStation App for smartphones and tablets, available free on the App Store and Google Play, is also set to receive an update to version 1.70 within the same launch window as both the PS4 and PS Vita system software updates. 2270October 16, 2011, Doha – Artists from across the Middle East & North Africa took part in the second and final phase of recording the charity single ‘Tomorrow-Bokra’ – a re-adaptation of Quincy Jones’ Grammy-winning single entitled ‘Tomorrow (A Better You, A Better Me)’ – one of the most popular global anthems of hope for the future. Legendary producer Quincy Jones has collaborated with Emirati social entrepreneur Badr Jafar to jointly produce the charity single.

The recording process began in May in Rabat under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI of Morocco with the support of the Mawazine Festival, and continued in Doha between October 11-13, in collaboration with Associate Producers, Doha Film Institute (DFI) and the Qatar Museums Authority.

On 11.11.11 (11th November 2011) the ‘Tomorrow-Bokra’ song will premiere live around the world via global TV simulcast, regionally with MBC and on-line with YouTube-Google at an exclusive VIP event at the One&Only, The Palm, Dubai. The date was chosen to reflect a sense of oneness between all Arab countries and to serve as a beacon of hope for the future of the Middle East and North Africa region at a crucial time in its history. CNN is the Global Media Partner and Sony Music is the Record Label Partner.

All donations from the ‘Tomorrow-Bokra’ project will benefit the Arab children of the Middle East and North Africa region, by providing educational scholarships in arts and culture programs and funding initiatives in music and the arts.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the official partnering organization of the ‘Tomorrow-Bokra’ project, will support existing education facilities through their School Feeding Programs in 7 Arab countries including Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt and Sudan.

“This song could not have come at a better time for the Arab World,” said Badr Jafar, Executive Producer of the charity single. “Almost three decades ago Quincy Jones’ single ‘We are the World’ saw artists from across the globe inspire a generation to do something about the food crisis in Africa. Music and the arts have the ability to bring together people from across the world, inspire action and promote solidarity and this song gives voice to what the people of the Middle East region hope for – a brighter, more prosperous future.”

“By fostering school enrollment among the poorest communities of the region through our school feeding programs, WFP provides unprivileged children with a chance to receive a proper education and ultimately a dignifying access to arts and culture,” said Monica Marshall, WFP’s Head of Global Private Partnerships. “We are thrilled to nurture a new generation of Arab talent for the ‘Tomorrow-Bokra’ Project.”

The ‘Tomorrow-Bokra’ Arabic lyrics were written by legendary Lebanese singer Majida El Roumi and the Arabic music adaptation is by Kadim Al Sahir.  Grammy Award-winning producer RedOne, (a.k.a Nadir Khayat) who has worked with international superstars such as Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Akon and Enrique Iglesias, is Producer of the track, while Malek  Akkad (son of Moustafa Al Akkad the Director of ‘The Message’), will be directing the music video and documentary film.

The recording session in Doha featured leading Arab artists including: Marwan Khoury (Lebanon), Fahad Al Kubaissi (Qatar), Waed (Saudi Arabia), Mashael (Saudi Arabia), Fayez Al Saeed (UAE), Tamer Hosny (Egypt), Sherine Abdel Wahab (Egypt), Latifa (Tunis), Ahmed Al Jumairi (Bahrain), Hani Mitwasi (Jordan) and Nassif Zaitoun (Syria).

The musical collaboration targets the region’s youth and aims to raise awareness, create a platform for tolerance and communication, serve as a symbol of unity between the Arab nations and a means to bridge the gap with the Western world.
