The two towers are being built at a cost of circa AED 700 million and are designed to mimic the movement of sand dunes. The unique architectural concept was created by the Architects’ Journal’s “International Practice of the Year 2009” winner, Woods Bagot.

Simon Horgan, ADNEC Group CEO said: “We are very pleased to note the progress of SinoGulf’s two developments. The towers reflect our commitment to integrating high-quality facilities into our Capital Centre micro-city. Their distinctive design also extends the development’s lineup of eye-catching buildings, such as the gravity defying Capital Gate tower and the world class Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. We fully expect these buildings to attract the kind of commercial and residential tenants which will help Capital Centre thrive.”

“There is incredible pressure among businesses to distinguish themselves amidst today’s highly-competitive environments. Capital Centre gives us a unique presence within one of the region’s most promising markets. SinoGulf’s Grade “A” environmentally-sensitive commercial tower will incorporate high-end quality finishes, high-speed passenger lifts with 24-hour security; 41,000 sqm of net lettable area with panoramic views; and secure parking bays. The tower which is due for full completion in 2011 will comprise 25 levels (plus two podium levels), while the residential tower will be a 20 level, (plus two podium levels) structure. Both are strategically located on the corner of Al Karama Street adjacent to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, with easy access to nearby commercial, hospitality, entertainment, transport, and residential facilities.

ADNEC’s Capital Centre is designed as an integrated exhibition-lifestyle destination, comprising 23 towers mixed use towers, 7 hotels and 1 world class exhibition centre – The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The development is complemented by another two hotels, Aloft Abu Dhabi, which opened in October 2009, and Hyatt at Capital Centre which will be located within the gravity defying Capital Gate tower.  Additionally, Capital Centre features a 20,000sqm Marina Zone.

Ducab expands plans for National Development Program in 2010

Company begins spring hiring campaign at Tawdheef Recruitment Show in Abu Dhabi by targeting individuals keen on developing their skills set through on-the-job training

dr-saeed-al-barwani-1Dubai, February 3nd, 2010- Following a series of recent expansions within the GCC market, Ducab—the leading manufacturer of high-quality power cables in the Middle East—announces a major extension of its National Development Program (NDP) at the Tawdheef 2010 Recruitment Show, hosted at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from Feb. 2 – 4.   According to Mr. Mansour Al Jedayeh, Manager of the NDP and one of the leaders of Ducab’s delegation at Tawdheef, only about 50% of Ducab’s hires for 2010 will come from the engineering field.  The rest will be part of the corporate operations at Ducab, and the company is looking specifically for fresh graduates with a background in supply-chain management, IT services, marketing and business development.

“There is a lot of talk now about encouraging Emiratization through subsidies, quotas and other regulation tools,” comments Mr. Al Jedayeh.  “Although these tools are extremely important, we believe that the best way for companies to attract talent is by offering employees the opportunity to grow as professionals.  Human development is the overriding goal, and that is something we hope to inspire through the expansion of our National Development Program and our participation in events like Tawdheef.”

In coordination with local institutions such as Zayed University and Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), Mr. Al Jedayeh’s department has increased the number NDP training workshops by nearly 50% in the last 12 months to accommodate for new recruits.  Even with the additions, the number of people involved in the workshops has more than doubled during the last year, owing to the popularity of the program.  During Tawdheef 2009 alone, Ducab received over 1200 qualified applicants and hired a record number of fresh graduates during a year in which the industry overall faced minimal growth.

“By offering young Emiratis individual career-guidance and outlining a clear set of skill development objectives in addition to business KPIs, the National Development Program aims to nurture fresh graduates and prepare them to advance rapidly within their respective field,” adds Dr. Saeed Al Barwani, General Manager of Human Resources and Information Technology Systems at Ducab.

It is the third year that Ducab has participated in the Tawdheef recruitment show, which this year features 39 exhibitors from governmental and semi-governmental departments as well as major companies in banking, construction, education, and trading sectors.  The career fair is regarded as the leading event in Abu Dhabi for talent recruitment as university students begin their final semester and prepare to enter into the workforce after their summer exams.
