Within the context of its academic and cultural cooperation with all society segments, Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University welcomed H.E Ms. Sharifa Ali Al Qaladary Cultural Counsellor, Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the e-University premises in Dubai International Academic City to discuss the required measures and procedures needed to acquire academic recognition from the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.H.E Al Qaladary was accompanied by H.E Ibrahim Mahmood Abdulrahman, of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University and a delegation of faculty deans and faculty heads in an introductory tour around the university.

H.E Al Qaladary admired the university and its innovative educational path, which is unique to the UAE and the region, she also said that through its programs and courses Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University has demonstrated its ability to change the educational map in the Arab world, especially for Housewives and employees who are unable to enrol in conventional universities.

H.E Ibrahim Mahmood Abdulrahman, of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University said:

“We are very pleased to have Her Excellency Al Qaladary visit our premises, and discuss the cooperation between the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, and most importantly the necessary procedures to acquire academic recognition from the Ministry of Education, in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”

Her Excellency the Cultural Counsellor at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain received a short introduction of all the academic programs Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University offers, as well as the means of registration, and the e-Universities development plans.

The agreement which took place at the Awqaf and Minor Affairs foundation headquarters in Dubai was signed by Mr. brahim Mahmood, Assistant Vice Chancellor, Business and Administrative Affairs, at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University and Mr. Khalid Rashid Al Thani, Acting Secretary General at the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, in the presence of a number of officials and department heads of the two parties.

Commenting on this signing, Mr. Ibrahim Mahmood, Assistant Vice Chancellor- Business and Administrative Affairs said:

“This agreement is of great importance for us at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, We are pleased to join forces with the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation that has a significant humanitarian role in caring for, and guiding minors in their lives.”

According to this agreement, the two parties will cooperate in various matters such as scientific, social and cultural activities, as well as organize training courses, conferences and seminars of mutual interest, covering issues related to development within the UAE, with a special focus on the role of the care for minors. Also by signing this agreement Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University will offer up to 10% discount to learners, who apply through the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation in Dubai.

“This falls in line with the e-University’s policy and dedication to effectively contribute to the humanitarian development in the UAE,” concluded Ibrahim Mahmood.

On his part, Mr. Khaled Al-Thani, the Acting Secretary General of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation in Dubai said:

“We are proud to have signed this agreement with Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, through which we look to provide minors who study at HBMeU with the possibility to conduct their training at the e-University. Also according to this agreement, we shall jointly volunteer in charity work, and work on enhancing our relations by all possible means, and through organizing periodic meetings as well as encourage the exchange of publications and report papers.”

The Third Annual Scientific Quality Congress, Middle East 2009 continues its activities for the second day with large national and international participation by experts, young executives and individuals interested in the field of excellence and Quality Management. The second day discussed issues such as sustainable development strategies, global financial crisis and competition through innovation.

The first day of the Conference tackled the issue of Total Quality implementations in the UAE, where the debate highlighted the importance of quality to measure the success of institutions and organizations.

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, the first e-University in the UAE, has announced that it will be displaying its latest academic books and journals at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair from March 17^th – 22^nd.

The Publishing House at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, which began publishing journals and academic books on Total Quality Management (TQM) and e-learning in English and Arabic in 2003, will be displaying their books at the Abu Dhabi Book Fair this week.  With titles ranging from Best practices: organizational excellence to Performance excellence, the books target a specific niche market, namely Managing Directors,  employees working in the corporate sector, TQM, and e-learning students and individuals interested in science, quality control, performance and management.

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University has announced that its 2009 “Be Unique” orientation sessions for high school graduates will begin on Sunday March 22nd.

The orientation sessions will be held at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University in collaboration with the university’s e-school of Continuing Education, The Centre of Excellence in Education, and will run from March 22nd to March 25th. Aimed at high school graduates who are due to enrol in Universities this fall, the free orientation sessions will consist of various workshops.

“The aim of the orientation sessions is to motivate and inspire students to think creatively and strive for excellence in their studies so that they can become global leaders in their fields. The transition from high school to University is particularly important and can be a stressful times for many young people. We hope that the orientation session will help answer any questions students have and prepare them as best as possible for their future careers.” said Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Vice Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, who will be the keynote speaker at the orientation sessions.

Four courses at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University have recently been accredited by the Continuous Medical Education department at the Ministry of Health in the UAE.

The “Strategic Environmental Assessment” course and the “Sustainable Environmental Policies: A Global Approach” are open to personnel at Ministry of Environment and Water, International Environmental Organizations, Municipalities, Public and Private Institutions dealing with Environment NGOs interested in environmental issues Health professionals in the public and private Sectors and Faculty Researchers.

“Strategic Environmental Assessment” course provides learners with knowledge on the global context of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SAE), procedure, legislation and guidance framework, and environmental impact assessment of projects. Concepts, principles and methodologies of SAE are developed to ensure that environmental considerations are integrated into strategic decision-making to achieve a sound environment and sustainable development.

The course “Sustainable Environmental Policies: A Global Approach” provides an overview of the importance of developing sustainable environmental policies.

The course also analyses the policy-making process that produces environmental policies, and emphasises the role of governmental institutions and international organizations in creating and implementing environmental policies, in addition to examining various environmental policies.

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University organized an orientation day for the new Master’s learners of spring 2009. The day was held at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University offices in Dubai on Tuesday February 10th.

During the day the deans of various colleges offered administrative and academic guidance related to the masters programs offered by the e-University.

The learners got the chance to familiarize themselves with the first e-university in the UAE, its policies, curricula and study plans. The day also included special orientationto give the learners detailed information on the masters programs offered by the e-University.

Dr. Mansoor AlAwar, Vice Chansellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University welcomed the learners, and stressed the importance of post graduate studies in the UAE:

The new master’s learners at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University are divided on three pilot master programs, Master of Science in organizational Excellence, Masters of Science in Public Health: Excellence in Health Care Management and Master of Science in Innovation & Change Management.

In collaboration with the Information Technology department, the learners Service Unit will follow this day with a two-day training for learners on the “Virtual Learning Environment” and the concept of “Virtual Classroom” and the “e-Library”, in addition to the use of e-mail, online course registering and other electronic methods of communication at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University.
