Nissan launches limited run of exciting Juke-R as it stars in own movie

Nissan launches limited run of exciting Juke-R as it stars in own movie

264Nissan has announced that its innovative Juke-R crossover will be made available to buy in a very limited run on build-to-order basis.

The 3.8-litre, 160mph Juke-R made its global debut in Dubai in January this year, attracting enormous attention and, as a result, Nissan has now received firm orders for three cars to be built. Two have come from a high-profile and well-respected member of Dubai society.

Nissan will build more Juke-Rs upon request and will be taking orders in the coming four weeks, before production starts in earnest.

While the original Juke-R was based on the MY10 GT-R running gear, the run of new cars will benefit from featuring the drivetrain and chassis of the MY12 GT-R and, with the build of the first cars underway, the first three cars will be delivered to their new owners in late summer.

Gareth Dunsmore, Marketing Product Manager for the Juke, said, “The Juke-R was originally intended as a one-off concept to marry two of Nissan’s most innovative models. But the reaction we had to the car in Dubai was amazing - people were making offers for the original on the street! With such a strong reaction, and with three genuine offers on the table, we decided we had to make the car a reality. We can’t let down enthusiasts who are this keen to add to their collection of cars. The Juke-R has become something of a phenomenon and I’m enormously proud of the impact it has had. There will be more news to come on Juke later in the year.”

Anyone wishing to register an interest in purchasing Nissan’s most innovative Crossover yet should contact Juke-R@Nissan.co.uk.

Desert Nemesis follows Nissan’s inaugural GT Academy winner, Lucas Ordonez, as he takes on the world’s best supercars in a thrilling street race, reminiscent of the ‘Need for Speed’ movies.

In Desert Nemesis, award-winning film director, Rob Kaplan, captured the noise and excitement generated by the muscular Juke-R and a street race against its loudest, most acclaimed adversaries.

Weaving together the cinematic scenes of a high-production movie and raw footage of the gamer-turned-professional racer taking on the world’s most exciting, road-legal cars through the roads of Dubai’s exclusive International Marina Club, Kaplan gives us the opportunity to see the Juke-R find its place among the world’s elite.

Spaniard, Ordonez, became a professional racing driver thanks to Nissan’s hugely-innovative GT Academy partnership with Sony in 2008. He made his debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours with Nissan in 2011 and will return to La Sarthe on June 16/17 with class-winning Nissan-powered team, Greaves Motorsport.

In the run-up to the film launch on May 3, several teaser trailers have been released through Nissan’s Facebook and YouTube channels, offering the audience ‘behind-the-scenes’ footage of one of the automotive industry’s bravest, boldest productions.

Bentley Oman organises an preview and test drive of the new V8 Continental GT for select customers

Bentley Oman organises an preview and test drive of the new V8 Continental GT for select customers

244Bentley Oman has organised an exclusive preview and test drive of the new V8 Continental GT for select customers following a regional media ride and drive event that was hosted in Oman.

The 2012 Continental GT V8 was received with great enthusiasm by discerning customers who have traditionally experienced exceptional levels of performance in a Bentley motor car.

James Armstrong, Brand Manager of Bentley Oman said, “The reception and feedback we had this time from our customers and prospects who saw and drove the V8 Continental GT has been incredible. And the first reports from top Middle East journalists also confirm how much they enjoyed driving the V8-powered Continental GT in the winding roads of the Sultanate enjoying the nation’s outstanding natural beauty. The Continental GT always had that ‘wow’ factor and now we match the breathtaking GT with superlative V8 performance for the first time.”

The event was hosted at the Al Husn Hotel at the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa providing a dramatic setting of rugged mountains and inviting beaches as the backdrop to the event. Customers who drove the 4.0-litre, 500bhp twin turbocharged Bentley Continental GT V8 coupé were enormouslyimpressed with the car’s exceptional standards for power-to-emissions in the high luxury sports car sector.

This new Bentley V8 engine delivers maximum power at 6,000 rpm and an extraordinary peak torque of 660 Nm which is available across virtually the entire rev range from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm. This helps the marginally lighter car [when compared with the Continental GT W12] to offer exhilarating performance and effortless power delivery in the Bentley tradition. Combined with a new close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission, this translates into a sub-5 second acceleration time for the 0-100 km/h sprint and a top speed of over 290 km/h.

The new V8 engine features variable displacement with a highly sophisticated engine management system, ensuring a seamless and imperceptible transition from V8 to V4 mode under light throttle load. This arrangement helps the new V8 Continental models achieve outstanding levels of fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions for the luxury performance sector and depending on driving conditions are capable of travelling over 800 km on a single tank of fuel. The arrival of the new V8 Continental models fulfils Bentley’s environmental commitment to produce a new powertrain that delivers a 40 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions.

“We are confident that besides the performance, our customers in Oman will appreciate the driving range and fuel economy benefits that this car has to offer. After driving the car myself and experiencing it, I am sure that the V8 CGT will attract many new customers to the brand who had not considered a Bentley in the past.” said Chris Buxton, regional director of Bentley Middle East.

While the W12 and V8 models look similar in their exterior profile, Bentley has made some changes to the exterior detailing and jewelrythat help differentiate the siblings. In the new V8 variant, the mesh grille is finished in black, air scoops in the lower front valance have a different design and the Bentley badging on the wheels and bonnet and boot lid sport a red background instead of the traditional black.

The new Continental GT V8 is available to order from Bentley Motors Wattayah showroom in Oman along with the other models in the line-up.

Abu Dhabi Motors confirms 43% growth for BMW and MINI sales in the first quarter of 2012

Abu Dhabi Motors confirms 43% growth for BMW and MINI sales in the first quarter of 2012

2193Abu Dhabi Motors retained its leading position as the best performing BMW Group importer in the Middle East during the first three months of 2012 with a 43% sales growth over 2011 - the most successful first quarter in Abu Dhabi Motors’ history, and a major contributor to BMW Group’s 6% sales increase in the Middle East.

The exclusive BMW Group importer in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain delivered 1,563 BMW and MINI cars to customers in the Capital.

Commenting on the growth, Arno Husselmann, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Motors said: “We started the year well with the opening of the world’s biggest BMW Group showroom facility to cater for the ongoing growth of the BMW Group brands in the Capital and most importantly, our customers’ high expectations. Abu Dhabi customers are among the highest net worth households in the world, and they have a strong desire to own luxury products from premium brands that also offer the best service standards. The premium BMW Group products, professional staff and exceptional service standards are key to our winning formula. In fact, our customer satisfaction results have already increased by more than 2% over the best results achieved in 2011.”which were the best in the Middle East amongst all premium brands.

Sales for BMW increased 43% with a total of 1,502 cars sold. The top-of-the-range models remained the best selling, with the BMW X5 leading with a 296% increase (790 cars), followed by the X6 Sports Activity Coupé with 11% growth (342 cars). The BMW 5 Series and flagship BMW 7 Series also continued their success stories with sales of 142 and 94 cars sold respectively.

Another area of the BMW brand that saw substantial growth for Abu Dhabi Motors was BMW Premium Selection, the BMW approved used-car programme which enjoyed a 23% increase in sales. “The strong residual values of BMW cars as well as the unmatched service package, BSI Ultimate ensures high demand for pre-owned cars. Our toughest challenge is to try secure trade-in cars to sell in BMW Premium Selection,” added Mr. Husselmann.

The MINI brand also continues to grow vigorously with 61 cars sold during the first three months of the year, an increase of 39% and an impressive achievement when operating in a market that predominantly favours large, luxury vehicles.

The first quarter sales successes support Abu Dhabi Motors’ 25th anniversary celebrations and the February launch of the world’s largest and most impressive BMW Group showroom.

“We were always confident our investments would support our customer satisfaction objectives as well as increase our market share. Our international sales successes, taking into account that we are competing against large, populated markets, are testament to our quality processes, products and the hard work of loyal and passionate professionals. Abu Dhabi Motors has been ranked amongst the top three BMW Importers in the world and in addition, have several best in world accolades from Rolls-Royce, which set a standard for expectations from our owners, our principals, the BMW Group, and most importantly, our customers. We will put our foot on the accelerator with the intent this year to achieve another record year in sales and customer enhancing performances, which is going to make it another tough year in the office for our competitors.” added Husselmann.
