ITHS –Capitalizing on investment opportunities in Oman’s tourism sector

462The WTTC annual report indicates that Oman will lead the Middle East in terms of growth in the travel and tourism sector in 2014. This growth in the travel and tourism sector in Oman can be seen through the increase in the number of new airports, world-class hotels & resorts and infrastructural projects in aviation, road, rail and the maritime sectors.

This growth in Oman’s tourism industry is expected to attract 12 million visitors to Oman by 2020, highlighting strong potential for investment. The Ministry of Tourism has placed 22 locations in the tourism sector in the Sultanate to encourage investments in tourist & service facilities. Oman is attracting favourable foreign investment from foreign retailers who are encouraged by the spending power of the population and shift in customer shopping trends.

Highlighting these key developments, the International Travel & Hospitality Show (ITHS) 2014 will connect exhibitors and sponsors to multiple investment opportunities from 14th-16th December, 2014 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

ITHS will present investment and development opportunities available in key sectors related to Oman’s tourism industry such as hotel & accommodation; retail & franchise; architectural engineering; entertainment & attractions and transportation infrastructure. It will bring together Government officials, inbound and outbound travel agents, hotel operators and developers, as well as high end buyers. To maximise benefits to exhibitors, ITHS is integrating various networking opportunities with representatives from these key sectors utilising the ITHS Business Matchmaking platform.

The Oman Tourism Summit held alongside ITHS will highlight investments in Oman’s Tourism Sector aimed towards propelling national growth.

ITHS was launched in 2013 to highlight the trends in the travel and tourism industry in Oman, the country set to lead growth in the region’s tourism industry for the coming decade. ITHS will continue to enable promotion of multiple tourism destinations from Oman, offering travel companies and destinations from across the world a chance to take advantage of Oman’s strategic location connecting Africa, Asia and the world.

ITHS is organized by OITE Trade Fairs. For more details related to ITHS 2014, please contact Ms. Mitsu Ruparel, Project Manager, Trade Fairs at
