423Abu Dhabi Feb.3rd , 2014: 50 doctors, the majority Emiratis, completed their residency period of training in Abu Dhabi Health Services SEHA medical facilities as part of SEHA’s annual training.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel was attended by a number of officials in SEHA, and many doctors, graduates, and their families. Dr. Ali Abdul Kareem Al Obaidli, Group Chief Academic Affairs Officer Corporate Academic Affairs of the SEHA, handed over certificates to the graduate doctors who participated in the session, which are 40 physicians, and 10 doctors.

The doctors spend the majority of time in Sheikh Khalifa Media City, Mafraq, Tawam, Al Ain hospitals, and AHS, which offer foreign-trained high-level therapeutic services in accordance with the standards approved by the Accreditation Council for American Medical Specialties. Physicians are distributed according to their various medical specialties that they completed during their training period, with 14 doctors in family medicine, 10 in internal medicine, 5 in Pediatrics, 6 in psychiatry, 3 in dermatology, 7 in emergency medicine, one in ophthalmology, 2 in surgery, and 2 in xrays.

In a speech during the ceremony, Mr. Rashed Al Qubaisi, Executive Director of SEHA said that the leadership of the State of Emaratisation is a human element of great importance, and this spirit came to the training program for physicians from the people of the UAE to gain practical experience through training in SEHA hospitals and to be ready to assume their places in various medical institutions to respond back to their homeland. People are looking for leadership from the doctors who have completed their residency training in SEHA hospitals, for their role in the healthcare sector in Abu Dhabi in particular, and in the UAE in general.

He said that those doctors who completed their residency training in the SEHA hospitals will have a prominent role in the future of Abu Dhabi health care in particular, and in benefitting the capital of the nation, as well as the future of the UAE in general.

He added that SEHA’s goal behind the residency programs for physicians in their facilities, is to increase the number of Emirati doctors working in the health sector in Abu Dhabi, to raise the level of resident physicians, and activate the social worker with whom continuous communication should occur to achieve a close relationship, which in turn flows into the service of patients.

Mr. Rashid Al Qubaisi, is proud of SEHA’s health accession constellation of UAE citizens to becoming highly trained medical staff according to the highest international standards, performing their duty towards their fellow citizens and residents on UAE territory, as celebrated in the near past at the graduation of 40 of its cadres. They have successfully passed the patient safety training program, pointing out that these programs come under SEHA strategy aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the medical staff. The issue of medical education and training is of great importance, so they are very keen to provide training programs, accommodation and medical education after graduation.
