The Syrian Orchestra and Ornina band participate in celebration evenings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Syrian national has pleasing art surprises for the UAE audience

Dream from the East is a musical show combining the magic of Western classical music and Eastern music through a live musical performance presenting a new vision of the concept of classical music on theatre – to be performed by The Syrian Ornina band.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development continues its various programmes across the country to celebrate the UAE’s 38th National Day, which runs until December 5.
The Syrian National Orchestra band and the Ornina Theater Dancing band will participate in two spectacular shows in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The bands together would be on the stage of Dubai’s Creek Park at 8 pm on December 2 at an evening gathering featuring a mix of Western classical music and classic Arabic music, in addition to a number of dance performances.
On December 3, the two bands will present the second show at the National Theater of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development in Abu Dhabi.
The two bands, whose musicians, dancers, singers exceed 156 artistes are led by Joan Frago, who will be performing theatrical dance presentation titled “A Dream from the East” in a mix between Western and Arab theatre. This is a cultural offering provided for the first time in Dubai. The second performance is titled “The Jasmine Ring, ” a theatrical dance performance inspired by the old Syrian history in the form of song and dance from different ages.
His Excellency Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Chairman of the Higher Committee for National Day celebrations said; “There is no doubt that the Arab participation is an essential part of our celebrations of joy in the UAE and the 38th National Day.”
The Minister of Culture appreciated the Arab bands’ keeness to participate in the celebrations of the UAE. He pointed out that this is an evidence of pan-Arab solidarity, and added that the participation of bands such as the Syrian National Orchestra and the Ornina Dance Theater Band is an opportunity for the public to watch their outstanding work on the Arab and international levels.
Al Owais noted that the two bands have some surprises for the public in the National Day in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, adding that there is an opportunity for locals and Arab residents in the UAE to attend these spectacular performances.
On the other hand, the Syrian director Nasser Ibrahim, head of the Ornina band, appreciated the invitation of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development for the Syrian bands to participate in this national occasion, noting that this year has the largest participation in terms of numbers and artistic performances by the two Syrian bands in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
“These bands have taken part in UAE National Day celebrations during the last three years. Since it was founded in 1993, the Ornina band participated in a large number of Arab and international festivals in the field of music, art dance, and it has multiple works that was greatly received in all Arab countries, as the band won many awards, and Arab certificates of appreciation throughout its artistic career.
