Dubai, April 1st 2009:
In an attempt to further promote fire safety awareness, the Dubai Civil Defense (DCD) conducted a fire awareness and prevention workshop at aswaaq.
The workshop by the corporal Mohammed Kalil from the DCD was arranged by aswaaq following an evaluation that fire safety awareness could be drastically improved internally. The employees from various departments at Aswaaq attended the workshop which covered; how to handle an emergency situation, types of fires, substances used in extinguishing each type, key information that should be relayed to the DCD in the event of a fire and also evacuation procedures.
Hind Al Falasi, Relations Manager at aswaaq said:
“Educating our staff about fire safety awareness and prevention is of prime importance at aswaaq. Knowing what to do in case of an emergency can make all the difference. We organized this workshop to remind our employees that fires can happen in any place at any time and to install a sense of responsibility amongst our staff that we can all play a key role in keeping our community safe.”
Mohammed Kalil, Corporal at DCD added:
“Officials in public places must ensure that safety equipment, especially fire alarms, extinguishers etc are working at all times and that workers are familiar with evacuation plans and procedures. In addition, clear “exit” signs and emergency exits are a must.”
To maximise safety at aswaaq, the centers are designed to meet the highest international safety standards. In addition, aswaaq’s pursues a vigorous training policy to ensure that its employees are well-trained on handling any kind of emergency.
